REGISTRATION FOR 2018 SEASON NOW DUE

‍‍ Dear friends, members, parents and players we would like to invite you to avail of the opportunity to renew your membership of Suncroft Gaelic Football Club (GFC) by attending registration event which will be held in the Suncroft Community Centre on Saturday 10th March between 5pm and 6:30pm.

‍In order continue to participate in training and games all players, coaches, mentors and officials must be registered for the season on or before the 31st March. The final provisions of the Children First Act became law on 11th December 2017 and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) becomes law in May 2018. These laws leaves the club, the GAA and the LGFA with little no wriggle room anymore with regards to registration, dates and participation. To avoid disappointment please come along to the registration event on Saturday or register on-line before the end of the month.

‍‍The season has already gotten underway with the senior, U20, U16 and U14 ladies and lads already in action. The younger underage training will commence on the 24th March.

Last year across the various age levels we had over 230 players participating and with the help of over 65 volunteers the club fielded teams in around 185 competition games and held just short of 300 training sessions. 2018 will be as busy, if not busier.

‍‍This year the works have also gotten underway on the new training and underage pitch area. It will take a bit of time to get the drainage sorted and a good grass sod on the area but all going well the works will be complete and area in use by the end of this year. In the mean time the hedge being gone should save us a fortune in lost and burst balls.

‍‍The clubs’ weekly lottery is a major source of funds for the club and we would urge everyone to consider signing up for the lottery for the year when you are registering. As well as being very good value when combined with registration it helps a lot towards the running costs of the club, insurance, grass cutting, balls, poles, posts, electricity, GAA / LGFA affiliation, injury fund, dressing rooms rent, referees, jerseys, etc. Five €25 prizes each week and a €25 promoters prize. The €10,000 jackpot was won just before Christmas and it is now already up to €4,000 again. In 2017 there were 175 different winners.

The club also need help to increase the number of people that sell the clubs lottery tickets as there is currently a lot of work being done by a small few. No matter if it’s a little or a lot it all adds up and helps. If you think you might be able to give a hand please contact Paddy Behan 086 606 7619 or talk to one of the people at registration to see what’s involved and if it’s for you.

Thanks very much for your support and we look forward to a busy 2018.
