Congratulations to the Holy Family Junior Football Team, and particularly the seven Suncroft ladies (captain-Carla Ennis, Aine Troy, Ciara Fennelly, Risa Ennis, Megan Troy, Aislinn Dooley and Eve Kehoe). Their team won their Leinster Junior Football final today, against the Presentation Convent Kilkenny in Portlaoise.
Holy Family started well and with some very strong defending, and classy shooting, had built up a convincing 13 point lead by half time 2:10(16) to 1:00(3). The Presentation Convent Kilkenny started the second half well with two unanswered goals to close the gap to 7 points. The Holy Family ladies realised they were still in a game and responded with a goal to reassert themselves. Both teams got some great scores in a well balanced, tit for tat, second half battle.
The Presentation Convent Kilkenny narrowed the gap a few times but the Holy Family fought back and at the end of the game they had maintained the 13 point lead they had built up in the first half.
Final Score Holy Family Newbridge 5:11(26) to Presentation Convent Kilkenny 4:01(13).
