Congratulations to the U14 lads team who have been graded Feile A for 2016. A fantastic achievement for these lads and the club to have the U14 team competing at the highest level in the game.
The group of players in this age group have gone from strength to strength over the year, winning an U12 division one title in 2014, and the younger lads reaching the division one U12 final in 2015, along the way.
As with any rural club with a limited player population, being at the top table will be a great opportunity and a challenge.
It's a great opportunity for the lads to play against, and learn from, the best in the county. Playing at the top level will challenge the lads to develop their skills, play and teamwork and the lads will benefit from, and build on, the experience for many years to come.
It will be a challenge because our team will be made up of U13's and U14's, and some U12's, whereas the clubs with the larger populations, like Moorefield, Sarsfields and Leixlip can field two teams of 14 year olds, Naas have three teams.
Well done to this great bunch of lads and the coaches. A great achievement already in 2016 and the football is only getting started.
For many years the underage section of Suncroft GFC has put a lot of effort into its structures, coaching and teams and this hard work is paying dividends. As well as this bunch of U14's, from minor right down through all the age groups Suncroft are fielding teams, competing well and picking up a few trophies’ along the way.
